KEY FEATURES

  • Gelcore™ cabinet construction reduces higher frequency cabinet noise.
  • Isolation suspension base eradicates unwanted external and internal vibrations.
  • The driver assembly is mounted to the front aluminium baffle by pretensioned studs to give the correct acoustic seal, while dampen vibrations and minimise structural coupling of the assembly in main cabinet.
  • Ground-up mid/bass and tweeter driver design for increased power handling.
  • High-frequency driver is fully hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the front baffle to protect from internal resonances from the mid/bass driver.
  • Crossover design is mounted on the isolation base, to minimise any microphonic pick up and away from electro-magnetic fields radiated by the drive units.

OVERVIEW

Concept Test

Star role in home cinema

A centre channel speaker in a 5.1 home cinema set-up plays a crucial role to convey a realistic surround sound experience. More than just supporting the front left and right channel speakers, a centre channel anchors the dialogue while also seamlessly being part of the whole soundstage. As a key player in the Concept 5.1 package, the Concept 90 is our most advanced and striking centre channel speaker, featuring many anti-resonance technologies that appear in its Concept stablemates to deliver a focused but captivating cinema sound.

Concept Test

Controlled power

Boasting a design with two 125mm mid/bass drivers flanking a 25mm tweeter, the Concept 90 brings ultra-clear dialogue and spellbinding effects to movie watching sessions through it specially developed driver designs.

Driver1

With sound synergy important in a home cinema speaker system, the Concept 90 harbours the same hermitically sealed and decoupled tweeter enclosure and driver assembly baffle-mounted design as the Concept 30 and 50. The same isolation base, featuring two plates separated by suspension spheres, is also present to isolate the cabinet from external resonances – a crucial design when the speaker is placed straight onto a TV cabinet, while also providing tighter audio, and greater depth to your music and movies.

Elegant design

Matching the design profile of the Concept 30 and 50, the Concept 90 arrives in a trio of finishes – black, white or silver - designed to blend into any Concept 5.1 speaker system you choose to assemble from the range. At the forefront of any surround sound set-up, this stylish centre channel will look at home perched on any cabinet in any interior space.

Gelcore™ cabinet design

All these resonance eliminating innovations are housed in a Gelcore™ cabinet design to deliver a speaker low on interior influences that can colour the sound. It ensures the Concept 90 can dispatch crystal clear dialogue and improved depth of sound that will elevate the film watching experience.

Introduced in the original Concept speaker, the Gelcore™ cabinet construction is designed to minimise high-frequency noise. A unique design comprised of a non-setting gel sandwiched between two individual layers, this specially developed adhesive dissipates high-frequency vibrations, generated by the moving drivers, into heat to maintain a focused audio performance, whether watching movies or listening to music.

Oh so quiet

Our aim with the Concept series was to design the ‘quietest’ cabinet possible. From the pioneering Gelcore™ cabinet construction, through to the Isolation Suspension System, these technologies deliver close to a resonance-free speaker design, as possible.

Style along with substance

Exceptional engineering inside the cabinet is matched by stunning design. The premium finishes – white, black or silver lacquers, with dual gloss and Italian wood veneer also available for the 300 and 500 models - fits perfectly into any listening environment.

Gelcore™ cabinet technology

First introduced in our original Concept loudspeaker, the Gelcore™ cabinet construction is designed to minimise high-frequency noise. A unique design consisting of a non-setting gel sandwiched between two individual layers, our specially developed adhesive converts the high-frequency vibrations generated by driver movement into heat, allowing for a focused and uncoloured audio performance.

Isolation Suspension System

A refinement of the hugely effective ‘isolation base’ principle first fitted to Concept 300, the Concept 50 has an isolation suspension system in the form of a sprung baseplate. Two plates are separated by suspension ‘spheres’ that effectively isolate the cabinet from interference caused by external vibrations. The result is tighter stereo imaging and greater low-frequency extension.

Controlled driver power

Specially developed, ground-up driver designs include a hermitically sealed and decoupled tweeter enclosure to shield from internal resonances from the mid/bass driver and reduce distortion, a driver assembly baffle-mounted design to dampen vibrations, while a larger mid/bass driver voice coil increases motor strength, resulting in a 50% increase in power handling.

P2P™ (Point to Point) bracing

Q Acoustics P2P™ (Point to Point™) bracing technology is used throughout the Concept loudspeaker range - it supports the parts of the cabinet that need to be stiffened, making the elegant enclosures exceptionally rigid. This improves the focus of the stereo image, and gives the soundstage more accuracy than ever before.

HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer)

The Concept 50 and Concept 500 are, like all floorstanding loudspeakers, vulnerable to internal build-up of pressure that causes both unwanted standing waves and colouration. To prevent this occurring, specially designed HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser™) tubes are fitted inside the cabinet to nullify internal pressure and improve frequency response.

Bi-wire speaker cable terminals

Each Concept model has bi-wire terminals on the rear of its cabinet. Using appropriate speaker cable, two pairs of cables can connect an amplifier to the speaker - one carries the high-frequency signal, the other carries midrange and low frequencies. Separating these frequencies minimises the intermodulation distortion that arises when using one length of cable to carry the entire frequency range.
