Versatile
Q Acoustics has designed the Q Active range from the ground up, with the express intent of delivering an uncompromised, versatile high-resolution system that can play music from any source – TV, network music streamer, smartphone, laptop, and even a turntable.
A compact central Control Hub configured for Google “Chromecast built-in” is supplied with each pair of speakers, which allows users to connect to a variety of wired and wireless sources. The Hub can be connected to your home network using ethernet or wi-fi.
Sound
The Q Active range is a true active design, with class D amplification eliminating the need for a bulky external amp or receiver. Q Active 200 speakers feature twin Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) drive units in an offset configuration that deliver a widescreen sound dispersal and a huge sweet spot: so no matter where you’re sitting in the room, you’ll hear the same rich, detailed and expressive sound from the Q Active speakers.
Design
Meticulous attention to detail has produced a compact, high-performance system that makes a distinctive visual statement - but every element of Q Active has been engineered to deliver the best performance possible.
As well as the panoramic, widescreen sound delivered by the BMR arrangement and the deep, controlled bass served up by the carefully specified and positioned subwoofers, Q Acoustics has paid painstaking attention to the way the Q Active 200 cabinet contributes to the system’s outstanding sonic performance.
‘Dart’ bracing is in the Q Active 200 cabinet to provide essential stiffness to the cabinet and equally helpful mechanical stability to the rear-firing subwoofer units.

As well as supporting your favourite music streaming service and being Roon Ready, Q Active has a hub that supports physical formats of every type and converts them into a 24bit/96kHz digital file. It streams this high-resolution content to the speakers, so any format you want to hear can be dealt with wirelessly by Q Active. Which means high-end wireless audio no matter the source of your music.
Dynamic widescreen sound
Q Active uses balanced mode radiators to deliver widescreen sound with no compromise in stereo focus, along with a much wider ‘sweet spot’ than traditional drivers can generate. Their peerless midrange performance means they sound natural and articulate, and their super-low crossover point of 150Hz means there’s no audible distortion as they hand over to the subwoofers.
Bass with power and control
Q Active 200 features a rear-firing 114mm subwoofer that delivers fast, deep, organised and endlessly varied low-frequency activity. Q Active 400 features a pair of subwoofers to double down on bass punch and presence. In both systems, the subwoofers fire onto a fixed boundary with a wave guide to ensure that bass is always perfectly controlled no matter where in your room your Q Active system sits.
Active amplification
The six drivers in Q Active 200 and the eight in Q Active 400 are each controlled by a bespoke amplifier - Q Active is a 280-watt system and Q Active 400 has a mighty 440 watts. Each driver receives its own carefully regulated amplification and performs with class-leading accuracy and finesse. Which means Q Active sounds bigger, more powerful and more precise than you might think possible.
Perfectly balanced
‘Dart’ bracing is used in both the Q Active 200 and Q Active 400 systems to provide essential cabinet stiffness and equally useful mechanical stability to the rear-firing subwoofers. In Q Active 400, careful positioning of the pair of subwoofers means standing waves inside the cabinet are, effectively, neutralised to give powerful, linear bass response without colouration.
